Our story

30+ years of referrals. Now open to you.

1991: Doing it the right way. My dad's lawn care career started at a big national franchise. He took pride in every lawn he worked on and spent the time to get each one right. The company measured the work in how fast you could get through a lawn, and he measured it in how the lawn looked when he left. So in 1991 he started his own company, with one idea: take care of every lawn like it's your own.

After more than 30 years of referrals only, we are finally taking on new customers. I'm Jake, and I have joined the business, which gives us the hands and the knowledge to do the work right and to help more families.

1991

After years at a big national lawn care franchise, Dad starts The Lawn Care Co. as its owner and only employee. He did every application himself and timed each one to the weather, not the calendar.

The early years

He spent those years learning the soil as much as the grass. He studied natural soil builders and made his own plant conditioner, and customers saw lawns that held up better through the summer.

Why we never advertised

As my dad put it: “I keep the volume of customers I have low to ensure each product is applied correctly and on time.” Staying small meant he never had to advertise. Good results brought the next customer.

Today

I joined the business, and we’ve been investing in it. This season we added a Steel Green spreader-sprayer and a Stinger aerator and overseeder, and I finally got my dream truck: a 1996 Ford F-250 Power Stroke. The machines are new and the truck is a classic, but the way we treat a lawn hasn’t changed.
